There was a wide variety of projects being sewn, some new, others unfinished items that have been around for a while! Many of the quilts are destined for charities, such the ones Alison makes for Linus and June’s one for care leavers, others were being made for family members. Carol was hand quilting a beautiful quilt with a dragon centre and camouflage backing for a teenage grandson while Joyce was putting together a scrap quilt in shades of pink based on ocean waves for her granddaughter. Jan was starting a quilt using material that had been in her cupboard for about four years! Ann Purdy and Anne Wellington both took the opportunity to finish quilts started before lockdown. Apart from quilts, Judy was making water bottle holders to be sold for the Waterside Bowls club funds, Yvonne put together some rabbit and hare cushion covers and Jill tackled a bag using the Bargello technique. Once the items are completed they will be added to the Show-n-Tell page. Even the weather was good and nobody got wet taking sewing machines etc to and from cars. All looking forward to the next Saturday session. |
Nine members and a guest enjoyed a day sewing on Saturday 15th January, the first one for two years! Thanks went to Alison for organising the day and providing the coffee and cakes!
