Project for 2025

QuiltsThe group project for this year started early, at our Christmas meeting in 2024!
As part of our meeting we had a group game, similar to ‘Pass the Parcel’, where those taking part were asked to bring nine three and a half inch squares, suitable for making a quilt, wrapped as a Christmas cracker. They were asked for four blue squares, four green and one any other colour. By the end of the game those taking part all received a ‘cracker’ with the material and were asked to make up a nine patch block.

The finished blocks were handed over to Judy Elson who worked her magic on them to produce two 48” square quilts. The finished quilts were donated to our charity for this year, Age Concern New Forest. (ACNF).
Carol Marley from the charity came to collect the quilts on 12th October. She was very pleased to receive them, saying they will look at the best way of using them to raise funds and ‘to do justice to the time and effort the group have put in to producing the works of art’

Pictured above is Judy, Carol and Wendy (group Committee Chair), with the quilts.

The charity Solent Rescue raffled the quilt they were given and raised £340, a much needed addition to their funds.

These quilts have been made by members of our group, using material donated by Judy one of our members. Two will be sent to the Linus charity, the third is to be given to Solent Rescue to use as a raffle prize this year.

Christmas tree decorations 2021

Another project in 2021 was making decorations for The Christmas tree festival that was held in St John’s Church, Hythe. All proceeds went to the Hythe 2000 project. Our tree was sold for £35.00, this price compared favourably with other trees of a similar size. About seven ladies made decorations but Joyce made by far the biggest contribution with about 35 machine embroidered white cotton medallions. They were beautiful and in several different patterns.
