On Monday 24th February we welcomed Kevin Perrett from Solent Rescue, our chosen charity for 2024. Kevin was presented with a cheque for £450, money raised by the group through our various fund raising activities. We had also donated to the charity one of the quilts made as part of a group project, this was raffled by them and raised another £340. Kevin thanked the group for all their work and generosity. Solent Rescue is an independent lifeboat based at Lepe Country Park. Founded originally, in 1971, as a beach rescue service it has grown into a lifeboat service, adhering to the Maritime and Coastguard agency’s Rescue Boat Code like the RNLI. The charity is run entirely by volunteers and runs on donations and fund raising to keep up its work. |

Once again some of the group met to enjoy a day of sewing, chat and eating cake! We had a variety of projects being made, from a special Xmas stocking to cushion covers, quilt tops and tote bags. The finished items will be shown on the show and tell pages once completed. Thanks again go to Alison for organising the day and providing the tea and cakes.

Another successful Saturday sewing with lots of very busy people making a variety of projects. There were bags, some destined for the WI stand at the New Forest show, quilt tops, an advent calendar (someone very organised for Christmas) and cushion covers. The finished articles will appear on our Show and Tell pages once completed. Our thanks once again to Alison for organising the day and providing the tea and coffee. And to Mary for the lovely Victoria sponge! |
