A really busy morning this week with our special show and tell. Members bought along something they had made that was special to them. Many of us have given away quilts to friends, family and various charities but there was still a wide variety of items to see.
Sue brought along this lovely quilt, she calls it her ‘Heart quilt’ and it was the first one she made.

Margaret M treated us to another look at her award winning mini quilt. She explained some of the wide variety of techniques she used including knitting with cocktail sticks and how she handled the 100 plus mini hexagons used for the bed cover!
Ann P went to a workshop where they were shown how to make the blocks. She said it took rather a long time to complete it all but she was very happy with the result. |
Margaret L found one of her very first embroidered wall hangings, she really enjoyed making it but says she wouldn’t want to do another!

Angie loves flowers and these hexagons were an excellent way of making her own flower garden wall hanging.
William Morris material is Jill W’s fabric of choice and she made up this lovely table runner as well as a table topper using the leftover fabric. |
Joyce brought along this quilt she made for her grandson. He asked her to make it up from the T-shirts he had worn when he was competing in gymnastic competitions all over the country.
Judy’s quilt was built on a monthly basis, following a pattern based on cats and vegetables! It took about 2.5 years and was finally completed in 2019.

Wendy brought along this lovely quilt, originally started as a group project fund raiser for the Quilters Guild. The late Marge McCormick gave the fabric and block instructions to members attending an AGM. Wendy made up one of the blocks. It took over a year for all the blocks to be completed, with makers living as far away as Canada, it took a lot of organising to get the top finished. Once quilted it was raffled at another AGM and Wendy was lucky enough to win it. She says it will always bring back fond memories of the friends she has made through the Guild.

This bag was made by Jill T using a kit she purchased at her first visit to a quilt show. She enjoyed the challenge and still can’t resist buying things at quilt shows! |
Margaret W loves flowers and butterflies and found this quilt an excellent way of using some of her stash!
This lap quilt was Nicky’s first attempt at quilting and she was pleased with the way it turned out.
Sara has been using scraps and trying out some crazy patchwork to make this sewing case. She added a needle holder and a pin cushion inside.
Ros bought along this lovely tiger picture done in cross stitch. She really enjoyed making it and was pleased with the result. |
Louise finished off the quilt her mum started years ago and now she uses it as a yoga mat. She feels sure her mum would have approved. |
Jan said she enjoyed making this disappearing nine patch wall hanging. |
